Definition

Primary Spoken Language: Primary language spoken in the original work.

Secondary Language: Indicates the other languages spoken in the original work - not the primary language spoken in the original work. 

Primary Spoken Language and Secondary Language are part of Episode, One-Time-Only, or Series in RL.

Please note PBS will not be using Original Language field moving forward; Primary Spoken Language and Secondary Languages will be used instead.

1. Access Program Item Title Information section.

  • Open Program Item by clicking on 'Create New Catalog Item Record' or 'Edit Details'
RL Program Item Title Info Edit page is displayed. 

2. Select Primary Spoken Language.

  • Select Primary Spoken Language in the original work. Only one language is acceptable.
Primary Spoken Language is selected. 

3. Select Secondary Language(s). 

 

  • Select Secondary Languages. Multiple languages can be selected.

 

Secondary Languages are selected. 

 

4. Save the template.
  • Fill out the rest of the fields of the template as needed. 
  • Click on Save.
Program Item is saved with single Primary Spoken Language and Secondary Language(s). MBank is updated with the language values.
